Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We would like to invite you to the 9th Congress of the Vascular Access Society which will take place on April 15-18 2015 in the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

The Vascular Access Society is a multidisciplinary Society where nephrologists, surgeons, interventional radiologists, dialysis nurses and vascular and radiological technologists are involved. The main objective of the Society is to keep abreast of the latest scientific developments in vascular access for hemodialysis. Undoubtedly, vascular access is the lifeline for many patients with acute renal failure or end-stage renal disease because their only option to move forward is to allow good access to the blood stream in order to benefit from hemodialysis.

Our aim is that all participants should feel at ease in this Congress. We have strived to put together an attractive scientific program and we would like to achieve active participation of all attendees during the meeting. The latest technological advances will play a decisive role in the congress so that sessions are as interactive as possible and promote an agile exchange of scientific knowledge.

For example, real-time polling of the audience will be available, as well as question-and-answer sessions intended to  show the different points of view of the attendees. We are also planning hands-on workshops with simulation models and real patients. A number of industry-sponsored lunchtime symposia will also be organized. And last, but not least, there will be time for the scientifically important of free communications and poster sessions.

And finally, there will be Barcelona …. What can we say about the city of Barcelona ? Barcelona is a Mediterranean capital with superb attractions. The city’s culture, leisure and entertainment, shopping, cuisine and  exceptional climate lure millions of visitors every year. Barcelona ranked fourth in the number of international tourists in 2012, an increase of 48.7% over 2005. It’s the only city in the world with nine buildings named UNESCO World Heritage sites. Barcelona is also the world’s third most popular congress city, according to the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA).

The congress will take place at the Palau de Congressos de Barcelona (FIRA Montjuic), very close to Palau of Montjuic and Plaça d’Espanya. The Congress venue is very well connected to the rest of the city by public transport and only a few minutes from the “heart” of Barcelona, the “Plaça de Catalunya”

We want to make this Congress a true festival of vascular access. Something you will enjoy!

Welcome to Barcelona!
